From Medical School to the Fashion Runway

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog! Today, I want to share a bit about my journey from the world of medicine to the vibrant realm of fashion. Yes, you read that right—I was once a dedicated medical student before I decided to pursue my true passion for design.

Fashion Designer

 A Journey

Growing up, I was always fascinated by the blend of art and science. From dissecting frogs in biology class to sketching intricate patterns in my spare time, my interests were as diverse as they were intense. It was no surprise to anyone when I decided to pursue a career in medicine, following in the footsteps of my maternal grandfather.

I enrolled in biology after my senior secondary and for a couple of years, I immersed myself in the study of anatomy and pharmacology. The journey was challenging yet incredibly fulfilling- However, amidst the textbooks and clinical rotations, there was always a whisper of another passion calling to me. I found solace in sketching fashion designs during breaks, losing myself in the textures and colors that brought my ideas to life. Fashion was my escape, my creative outlet in the midst of medical academia.

The turning point came during my final year of medical school. Encouraged by friends who saw my sketches and designs, I decided to enroll myself into a designing collage. After much soul-searching and discussions with my supportive family, I made the bold decision to pivot from medicine to pursue a career in fashion. It wasn't an easy choice, leaving behind years of hard work and a secure career path. But deep down, I knew that my heart belonged to design.

Embracing Passion in Fashion

I enrolled in a renowned fashion institute, where I immersed myself in the artistry of garment construction, textile design, and fashion history. My background in medicine gave me a unique perspective—I approached fashion with a precision and attention to detail honed through a period of studying anatomy and physiology.

Fashion Show

My debut collection was a fusion of my Indian heritage and global influences, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary silhouettes. It was exhilarating to see my designs come to life on the runway, each piece telling a story of culture, craftsmanship, and creativity.

Since then, my journey as a fashion designer has been a whirlwind of creativity, collaboration, and growth. I've had the privilege of showcasing my collections at India Runway week, collaborating with talented artisans and designers, and seeing my designs worn by individuals who appreciate the artistry behind each piece. But that was not enough…

Revolutionizing Training and Transforming Lives

Today, as I continue to evolve as a designer,I have chosen a path of providing training to our Indian Naaris and empowering them in the field of fashion with SKILLINABOX.It has revolutionized the way I deliver training and the impact I can make on others' lives.

As a trainer, the impact of SkillInaBox on my professional growth and the success of my participants cannot be overstated. It has empowered me to expand my offerings, reach a broader audience, and deliver training experiences that are not only informative but also transformative.

I want to share with you the profound impact that teaching fashion to women has had on my life and theirs. It's a journey of empowerment, creativity, and transformative change that has touched my heart and shaped my perspective as a fashion educator.Through structured classes,I have the privilege of introducing these Wonderwomen’s to the art and craft of fashion..

Beyond technical skills, teaching fashion also instills valuable life skills. Patience, perseverance, attention to detail—all are traits that are honed through the process of creating garments.Teaching women fashion has also enriched my own practice as a designer and educator.Their resilience and determination motivate me to strive for excellence. This is my #EkKadamAAGE. It's a privilege to witness the transformative impact of education and creativity firsthand, and I look forward to continuing this journey of empowerment and inspiration.
